Since January this year, Ssavoury has been a fully pork free restaurant and event space. No pork and no lard anywhere in the kitchen, on any menu, for any event. The menu was rebuilt from the ground up rather than just edited around the edges.
Pork Free Restaurant in Petaling Jaya Since January 2026
We are not going to pretend this was a small decision or dress it up as purely values driven marketing copy. A meaningful share of the families, corporates, and community groups who wanted to book Ssavoury for celebrations could not, previously, bring everyone they wanted to bring to the table. So we changed it. Every recipe was reviewed, every supplier checked, and the kitchen processes rebuilt to remove pork and lard entirely.
What Pork Free Means at Ssavoury
This was not a shortcut version of what we used to serve. If anything, it forced us to get more precise about what actually made our food good in the first place. To be clear and upfront, we are pork free, not halal certified, and we will not claim otherwise.
Pork Free Dining and Events in Petaling Jaya
What this means practically is that Ssavoury now works for the birthday party where half the guest list avoids pork and half does not, for the corporate event with colleagues from mixed backgrounds, and for the family milestone where nobody has to sit at a separate table. One more thing worth mentioning honestly, we are no longer pet friendly, which was a tradeoff of the same operational changes.
